Welcome to the Frozen Tundra of Lambeau Field.

Welcome to the Frozen Tundra of Lambeau Field.
This year I took my Dad to Lambeau for his birthday/Christmas present. It’s become somewhat of a tradition for my dad and I to celebrate by watching the Packers. Last year, in Kansas City, we were blessed with some amazing weather but unfortunately it wasn’t the greatest game… THIS YEAR, we were with our people in Lambeau. We sat in the end zone and got to watch Clay Matthews and Aaron Rodgers warm up right in front of us. We were also lucky enough to have a blocked punt right in front of us and have the Packers scoop up the ball for a touchdown. It was amazing. High fives all around. Another thing I loved was watching Clay Matthews (for obvious reason) roam the line. He’s got pretty much the same routine from stretching his legs, jumping, fist pumping his chest, and then staring down the opponent as he walks back and forth. It’s incredible. Sadly, Jordy was out from an injury so he didn’t play. We were once again blessed with good weather (for Wisconsin in October…) and I bought myself a new Packers stocking hat! Its pink and gray striped. J
The Packers walked away with a victory that day and my dad and I had a great time. I love football and I love my dad. Go Pack Go! Perfect Sunday.

Needtobreathe: Omaha

It’s no secret that Needtobreathe is my favorite band. It’s also no secret that if they are in the area… or surrounding states, I will travel to see them. Luckily, I have friends who are like me and love live music and are willing to take a road trip. NTB was playing a show in Omaha so Jessica, Elyse, Jenni, and I scooted out of work early and headed west.
One thing I love about Des Moines is it’s access to some major cities within a reasonable driving distance. We’ve Omaha to the west (2 hours), Minneapolis to the north (4 hours), Kansas City to the south (3 hours), and Chicago to the east (5 hours). This increases my concert opportunities exponentially. We spent the afternoon perusing the Old Market and finding great deals at some antique stores. We met another car of concert goers for dinner (Anna, Lindsay, Rachel, and Molly) at the Twisted Fork Bar & Grill. Yum.
Anna and I are part of the fan club (yes!) so we had early access to the venue. This meant front row. J That also means awkward eye contact with the band members. (Allison, you would have loved every minute of it). Matthew Mayfield opened followed by Good Ole War. One of my favorite memories from this show will be looking back at Elyse when Good Ole War was on stage and seeing her crying/laughing. The bass was incredibly loud and it literally felt like you were having a heart attack. It was hilariously awesome. Then NTB took the stage. The show was, as expected, amazing. I LOVE LOVE LOVE watching them play live. It’s incredible. We danced along with Bo, sang along, jumped up and down, made awkward eye contact with Seth, got sweat dripped on us by Bear, and loved every minute. I also walked away with another guitar pick from Bear to add to my collection. I can’t wait for the next show! Rockboat 2013?? Jenni??

Parachute & Needtobreathe

The best damn bands in the land! Ohio what?! Parachute and Needtobreathe... together... in concert... in my favorite city of Chicago... HOORAY!!! Along with my good friends Jenni and Lindsay, we hit the road for Chicago and the concert of all concerts. During icebreakers, when asked what my ultimate concert would be, my answer will always include Parachute and Needtobreathe. It is a little embarrassing how many times I have seen them in concert, but, I guess I don't care.
It was a concert of all concerts. From the moment Drew Holcomb opened the show, it was on. The crowd was super into the show which always makes it more fun. Parachute, as always, entertained the crowd with WillyJ running through the crowd and jumping off pianos. In between their set and NTB, we said hello to them and snapped a quick picture. We also bought some Parachute swag.
Needtobreathe. I've run out of words for how great I think they are. It was a great night and I LOVED everything about it!
