Rockin Robin.. tweet tweet tweet

Rockin Robin … tweet tweet tweet. My dear friend Robin has started a blog. Like any other friend who tells me they've started a blog, I happily congratulate them. I set their address as a favorite and check their page daily (sometimes multiple times a day). Unfortunately, they figure out pretty fast that you need some time to maintain the ole blogosphere. As previously mentioned, Robin has started her sweet blog. She recently said that she's having a problem figuring out what to write about. Folks, this girl is funny. She's interesting, she's smart. she's quirky, and unique (except for the fact that she's a triplet). But how can she translate all of that into blogdom? I could type for days and tell all kinds of stories about Robin.. I’m just giving her the opportunity to write about them first. SO, Robin, it's time to go forth into the written (electronic) world and share those little gems you've had tucked away in that brain of yours. For inspiration, I think your next post should be about growing up as a triplet. Ready… set… go!

Warning: I am not as young as I once was.

Last week, Friday night, my bible study decided it would be a great idea to hit the slopes and go sledding. I was totally on board. The sledding conditions were perfect with fairly mild weather, no wind, and the hills were packed down with an ice/snow mix. My friend Kelli and I made the first run on a giant tube and it went quite well. Then we decided to get on one of the faster sleds… bad idea. Near the bottom of the hill we hit a bump and flew in the air (and by flew I mean my body slightly left the ground). When we landed, my hand smacked against the ground. (remember, snow/ice mix). It was a little painful but I didn’t think too much of it. When we got back up to the top of the hill, I took my glove off and noticed that I could no longer see my knuckles. My knuckles had suddenly been replaced by a swollen mass. My hand soon started to swell even more so I put some snow on it to ice it. My fingers were already pretty numb from it being so cold outside and my hand didn't really hurt so I continued to sled. Later on, some of our friends decided to jump some ramps with their sleds. Again, not smart but thankfully, only minor injuries. By about 9:30 I decided that I should probably get home and get to sleep. As we were walking back to the car I decided to reasses my injury. When I took my glove off, my hand now had a bump the size of a golf ball on top of it! Awesome right. Thankfully, its not broken (so says the x-ray) but is damaged. The swelling has gone down tremendously but the bruising is quite pretty. I should also mention that this is not my first run-in with injury while sledding. Back when I was a kiddo, I had the fastest sled on the hill. It was bright pink and that thing MOVED! Well, my parents were video taping me sledding down the hill and I hit some rocks and well, flipped right out of my sled and landed face first in the snow. I laid there crying while everyone just laughed. It's funny to watch now and I should have learned my lesson then that sledding is not my thing.

It was all fun and games until....

CELINE.. coming to a theater near you!

This gives me jumpy claps! I'm ecstatic that Celine is making her way to the big screen. This just screams "a good time." Watched Hannah Montana: Best of Both Worlds and sang along… saw the Jonas Brothers in 3D, was amused… even went to see Michael Jackson's This Is It and liked it (I escpecially got a kick out of watching the 60 year old lady dance up and down the aisles to Thriller.) But the REAL gem of a concert turned movie is CELINE. She can make it happen. Only Celine can get me dancing up and down the aisles one minute and weeping the next. (Remember Titanic! Magic) She is, in my book, wonder woman. Celine can do no wrong. After all, she is French Canadian... the greatest Singer in the World (followed by chest pound, raise hand high in the air, pull it down). So get ready for lots of power ballads, crazy facial expressions, and an amazing show. Can not wait for this!

So today...

I went through an entire box of kleenex, a 4 oz bottle of purell (every time I sneeze or blow my nose, I use purell), a handful of ibuprofen, half of my new bottle of lotion, 2 32oz nalgenes of water, and 7 clorox wipes to clean my desk. :) When I finally decided I'd had enough at work and went home, I couldn't feel my face outside because it's so frigid. oh the joys of winter.

Hawkeye Victory

How sweet it is! Tuesday night the Iowa Hawkeyes defeated the Georgia Tech Yellowjackets in the Orange Bowl, 24-14. It was such a fun game to watch with my friends. All of us piled into a friend's house which was amply supplied with 4 televisions for our viewing pleasure. Thankfully, the Hawkeyes grabbed an early lead and the rest was history! Congrats to Kirk Ferentz, Big 10 Coach of the Year, and the rest of the Iowa Hawkeyes on an awesome season!

Rolfinator's Birthday!

Today is Kelli's birthday. If you're thinking about getting her a gift, here's a little bio on Kelli to guide you on your merry way. Kelli loves Chipotle and Jimmy Johns tuna sandwiches. She loves Mountain Dew, coffee, Mike & Ikes, and puppy chow. She's loves any dessert made by Melissa Gourley and her wing span is longer than she is tall. She's obsessed with her niece Aubrey, Arrested Development, and she thinks Glee is the most fantastic television show. She's 6 feet tall but she'll tell you she's only 5'11". She will challenge you to a game of Rock Band and she never turns down an opportunity to watch a fantastical movie. She once saved my life from a rabid dog and she has a mind like a steel trap! She loves ice skating and is a mustache fanatic. Her celebrity road trip partner would be Ryan Reynolds and she's Dutch. She grew up in the OC (Orange City) and loves Diesel jeans. She's an excellent seamstress and can make flowers out of plastic cups. She can wear her hair curly or straight and she loves headbands. Kris Allen is her favorite American Idol, she loves giving hugs, and she thinks the episode of Freaks and Geeks with Bill dressing as the Bionic Woman is the funniest! Most importantly, Kelli loves Jesus and she is a fantastic friend. Happy Birthday!
